If you want to build a newsletter in the shortest time possible, you cannot beat the power of using a squeeze page. The fact of the matter is, squeeze pages have been around for a number of years but most people are really unfamiliar with the principles of why they work. Yes, you may be able to put up a squeeze page from a template and you may see some success from your efforts but until you truly understand what is going into the page, you will not be able to maximize the number of subscribers that you receive. Here are the basic principles behind the squeeze page. Skip one of these and your results will suffer.
The first thing that you need to be concerned about whenever you are creating your squeeze page is having the proper type of headline. Headlines are very important, regardless of whether you are trying to make a sales page or if you are simply trying to get some subscribers. You want to be able to grab the attention of reader immediately and compel them to read further. A squeeze page does not necessarily need to be long but just like any other page, you only have a few seconds to grab the individual’s attention. Use your headline wisely and your list will grow quickly.
The next thing that you should concern yourself with is a compelling offer. You are not going to have a successful campaign unless you offer people something that they will be willing to part with their e-mail address in order to receive. 10 years ago, you could put a page up on the Internet and anybody would put in their e-mail address. Now, people are inundated with spam on a regular basis and the last thing that they want is another newsletter hitting their e-mail box. Dangle a carrot in front of their noses by putting a compelling offer that resides just on the other side of the subscribe box. If you do this properly, people will willingly give you their information.
Finally, you need to make sure that you’re not allowing them to many exits. If you are trying to build a newsletter, the last thing that you want to do is offer such things as Google adsense or links to interior pages of your website on your squeeze page. The only way that a person should be able to leave your squeeze page is by filling out the form or hitting the back button. If you give somebody an option to leave your page otherwise, they are going to pick up on the offer.
Once you have all of these things in place, you can always use a template in order to help make it look pretty. Not all of us are graphic designers and webmasters so these templates often become necessary. Just make sure that all of these items are in place and that the page looks nice and then release it to the world. You would be surprised with what kind of success you can have when everything is working properly.
